Engine Surge has occurred on my 2003, 2015 and now 2019 Subaru's. All are 2.5 Liter. First 2 Outbacks were over 100,000 miles each, this one a 2019 Legacy with 20,000 miles. Engine was up to temperature, when I stopped in a parking lot for 10 to 15 seconds when the engine started to race - foot on the brake - and eventually reached 2,500 rpm. Flipped into neutral and hit accelerator - engine returned to normal.
No further problems to date. 2003 & 2015 problems were at low speed, under 5 mph. 2003 was found to have corrosion on linkage; no solution for 2015 or 2019 vehicles. Local dealer has no ideas. Absolutely No Other Problems with any of the 3 vehicles. Over 300,000 miles cumulative Subaru driving.
