problem #2

Outback Limited 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 78,000 miles

Immediately after I purchased the car (7 yrs old) I noticed that the car used way too much oil. If I drove 1,000 miles I would have to add 2 quarts. I kept 4 quarts of oil with me at all times. I'm very dissappointed with the Suburu Outback's reliability. It was an extremely expensive car to maintain. Looking for a new car...do not consider a Suburu.

Outback Premium 2.5i

once again valve cover gaskets leaking. Subaru claims they fixed the problem in 2010 and weren't having these issues. This is not the first oil leak either. Head gaskets were done around 60,000 and around 117,000 miles already. Supposedly with the new design they used it went away, but returned in 2012- 2016. Well definitely not true. They never did fix anything. I've owned many Subaru's so I know this is an issue with them, but don't tell people you fix it then don't. I just had $600 worth of work done to it now looking at another $900 or so for this repair unless I do it myself. The part is only about $3 and all the rest is labor. One dealer said about $600 to do the work. Subaru needs to cover these repairs, and I don't mean the dealers!
