This is a very dangerous problem with the VSC or TCS. I nearly swerved off the CASCO Bay bridge in Portland today. There is some type of environmental interference that activates the VSC system and causes it to brake hard on one side, causing me to swerve dangerously.
It happens frequently when I cross the bridge, always in this same section, but not in the same exact place, even though I am going perfectly straight on dry pavement. It happens in any of the 4 lanes, and in either direction. It clearly has nothing to do with the momentum of the vehicle. I'm assuming its caused by some type of signal transmission from either the drawbridge controls, or the sewage treatment plant under the bridge.
We have not had this happen anywhere else in 16 years except in one other specific location in Tiger, GA. It happened there almost every time we drove through. Again, - going perfectly straight, and in either direction. This was a rural location with no obvious nearby industry transmissions.
I have not had a problem with the system activating anywhere else, ever, just in these 2 locations. I waited on the phone forever with Toyota only to have someone refer me to the manual. For an immediate fix, I need find out how to disable the VSC and TCS, hopefully without messing up the 4WD
