Rayos😡 , so annoying ! You describe to the perfection the very same problem that I have on my Rav4.
so far I can’t do nothing about it. Hope there is RECALL from TOYOTA, to fix this cuz is a noise that slams on your left ear when I’m driving, Also there is a rattle on the Dashboard it comes and goes is right on the central display.
While driving, I can hear a rattling noise from my left. I have isolated the problem to the seatbelt adjustment, attached to the left pillar. I can temporarily eliminate the noise by pushing the seatbelt adjustment a little. But as soon as I hit a bump, or travel roads that are not smooth, the noise reappears.
Adjusting to different heights does not fix the problem. It seems the plastic housing is not pressed on hard enough, or a screw is loose. Sound does not appear on the right side when I have a passenger or the seat is empty.
