The breather plug on top of the differential can become plugged after a lot of off-road use. If it becomes clogged, pressure can build up and force oil past the axle seals and leak onto the brakes. The plug is a $10 part and should be inspected and replaced with lots of off road driving or it will turn into a huge repair bill. In my case it was a minor leak. The rear brakes were replaced along with the repair, because they can have axle oil on them. Parts $425, labor $350.
