I bought my 2006 Toyota Tundra CrewCab new. Love the truck. I washed the truck often and waxed it a few times a year. When the truck was around 10 years old with 80,000 miles on it, the clear coat started bubbling on the hood and roof. Within a year, the clear coat had flaked off completely. Normally, I would figure that I got 10 years out of the paint job but, when looking at cars and trucks older than mine, they didn't have this problem. Many Toyotas do. I just called a body shop to inquire about a paint job. He said it will probably be $5,000 and not worth it.
I'll continue driving it for another 5 years with a terrible paint job. Then trade it in for a new truck. Would love to find another option other than spending $5,000. Maybe, I'll go to a big box store and get rattle cans of clear protectant and paint my hood.
