This sticky, dash and interior molding is really a mess. My fingernails get stuck in the soft goo when I open and close the door. We removed some of the mess on the dash with Goo Gone but it took a lot of elbow work for very little progress. We told the dealer about it. They said there were aware of the problem but had no solution. Isn't that special!

Recently a number of the plastic parts on the dash and the bezels on the inside door handles have become soft and sticky to the touch. These parts were initially hard plastic. Clear water on a damp chamois have been the only cleaning products used over the years. The stickiness is similar to that of Sticky notes and the hard plastic parts are becoming soft on the surface. We use no air fresheners in the car and expect the parts are deteriorating from sun rays. but haven't seen any posts of similar nature. Bank on this--this problem (nor any other) will never happen on any other VW' in our garage after this one is history!
