Subaru Outback Recalled To Fix Trailer Hitch Nuts and Bolts
Subaru Outback trailer hitch has nuts and bolts that might not hold a trailer.

— Subaru is recalling 56 model year 2015 Outback vehicles equipped with a Subaru accessory trailer hitch.

The trailer hitch has eight bolts welded to the body of the Outback. Subaru discovered an owner could damage the bolts when tightening the nuts because the trailer hitch wasn't mounted properly during manufacturing.

If the bolts come loose or break, anything being towed by the Outback could detach from the hitch and cause all kinds of mayhem on the road.

Subaru says the affected 2015 Outbacks with the trailer hitches were manufactured January 22, 2014, to August 18, 2014.

Subaru Outback owners should receive recall notices in the coming days with instructions to schedule a dealer appointment to have the eight mounting nuts replaced. Dealers will also inspect the eight bolts for any damage and replace those if needed.

Owners of the 2015 Subaru Outback can contact the automaker at 800-782-2783 and refer to recall number WQN-50.
