Hyundai Recalls Santa Fe SUVs With Hoods That Can Fly Open
Hyundai recalls 437,400 Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport SUVs to fix hood latch cables.

— Hyundai is recalling 437,400 Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport SUVs because the hoods could open while driving.

Hyundai says the 2013-2017 Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport SUVs have secondary hood latch actuating cables that can corrode and bind, causing the secondary latch to stay unlatched when the hood is closed.

If the primary latch fails or is opened for any reason, the secondary latch will fail to keep the hood closed.

The recall will begin June 30, 2017, when Hyundai dealers will start replacing the secondary latch cables in the Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport SUVs.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration didn't say more about the recall, but owners who have questions should call Hyundai at 855-671-3059 and ask about recall number 163.
