CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2012 Ford Escape has an acceptable complaint history so far, with leaking rear window problems showing up as the main concern so far. NHTSA complaint data shows an early pattern of problems with stalling while driving.

Another concern is the 2012 Escape rolled onto its roof during an NHTSA side impact test so it only received a marginal side impact rating ... not good.

Not sure if leak is coming from the sunroof or clogged drainage tubes or what?

First car I bought myself after my divorce in 2009. My family had driven Fords for over 30 years, from Navigators to F-250 trucks. And about 14 Ford F-150's. I've always loved everything about them and considered the Ford brand my favorite. Same story as everyone else, leaking in rainstorms, wet carpet, water standing in well around post, now a rusted hatch door bottom. The last service writer I spoke with, my exact words were, I'm buying another car and this time Toyota is looking real good to me! I'm done with Fords.

Back hatch will leak in car from rain; if I do not clean out gunk in it with hose and water spray bottle about once a month. I think it is from design of flat back glass not a gradual decline. I noticed it about 2 years after a bought car. It started getting steamy in car and smelled like wet dog. When I wash car now, I open hatch and carefully spray top of vinyl trim and wash the gunk out. Its like it just collects there, that's what I have to do so it doesn't rain in my car. Super pain in butt, but at least its a solution.
