CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013 Fusion doesn’t have the same track record of power steering failure as the previous 3 model years. Of course, those owners said their steering failed at 60k–100k miles. So this appears to be a classic "wait and see" scenario.

In the meantime, there’s plenty of interior accessory problems to complain about. By themselves, each is a barely a blip on the radar. But combined, they give you that feeling of what the hell have I gotten myself into?

My car idles roughly, and has stalled while driving. It has no outstanding recalls, and still happened. A few months ago it was happening, and on my way to a repair shop, overheated, and did over $700 worth of damage. Now, a few months later, it's got a rough idle and stalled on me yesterday as well. I was slowing down to take an exit, but took the exit with no power. Restarted the car and was able to drive it home.

Check engine light came on and car gave me warning that coolant system was overheating, then car started to auto slow down until a complete stop on a public roadway. Check engine code came back for cylinder misfire. Had spark plugs and coil changed by mechanic, as well as refilled engine coolant. Next day, turn car on and white smoke billows out of exhaust and engine shudders, then dies, leading me to believe there is a coolant leak in the cylinders. Took it back to mechanic and they said they could not find an exterior coolant leak after running tests. Next day, coolant level drops below minimum after being full the day before. After doing research, there is likely an interior engine coolant leak.

After not being started for a while, car will start to shudder, then will completely shut off. When you restart the car it works. It only works until you get to your destination and let it sit for 15-20 mins and then you try to start it again and it does the same thing. Car would die when car is staionary and while in motion. I had battery checked and it is good. Had fuel pressure sensor on the rail changed and it is still doing the same thing. I searched online and there have been many complaints of the 2013 Ford Fusion having the same problem.

For about a month now my coolant has been dropping in the reservoir about every 2 weeks. I had the oil changed today and asked the dealership to check and see what the problem is. They informed me it was leaking around the thermostat housing. This is in direct relation to the recalls but of course they say mine is not part of the recall. I wonder what Ford will think if it catches fire and I'm injured and my children sue them! please help I'm on disability and can't afford the $450 the dealer wants to fix it.

This vehicle was brought to brondes Ford in maumee Ohio several times to report the coolant level dropping. Dealer could never find anything wrong. On 5/9/17 vehicle went in for an oil change and dealer marked coolant level was fine, did not add any. Brought vehicle back on 5/13/17 reporting coolant low. Back in 11/6/17 for low coolant. Dealer found nothing wrong and topped off. 2/9/18 - dealer performs recall 17S09 vehicle brought back again as coolant is dropping. - dealer finds small leak in O-ring and repairs. 11/24/19 - I open the hood to find the coolant bottle completely empty with no warning message, check engine light, nothing. This was the whole purpose of this recall to prevent overheating and fires which is shown as completely ineffective on this vehicle. I request intervention by NHTSA as the fix propsed by this recall is shown as not working. The consumer stated the dealer found that the low coolant and the check engine message were turned off. The were unaware of why or how the messages were turned off.

The engine stalled couple times under low speed in the parking lot. Happens each time after engines starts for 5 to 10 min. Stalls only under low speed. Have no recalls. Saw forums online that many people complaining about this issue when the vehicle hits around 5 years. One of them even got T boned in the parking lot. Went to dealership to troubleshoot many times. As it turns out, like all the people in online forum, the low fuel pressure sensor was faulty. Causing the engine computer to shut off the engine. Changed the throttle body before finding the low fuel sensor issue. Cost a lot of money to trouble shoot power train issue. Not covered under warranty. Very disappointed.
