CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013 Fusion doesn’t have the same track record of power steering failure as the previous 3 model years. Of course, those owners said their steering failed at 60k–100k miles. So this appears to be a classic "wait and see" scenario.

In the meantime, there’s plenty of interior accessory problems to complain about. By themselves, each is a barely a blip on the radar. But combined, they give you that feeling of what the hell have I gotten myself into?

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 75 MPH in the rain, the vehicle inadvertently lost power steering functionality. The power steering assist warning light illuminated and the message to "Pull Over" appeared on the instrument panel. The contact stated she veered to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle. The contact restarted the vehicle, but the power steering warning light remained illuminated. The contact stated she was able to continue to drive the vehicle at a lower speed and manually steer the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V250000 (Steering) because the VIN was not included in the recall. The dealer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that she would be responsible for the cost of diagnosis and repair of the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 107,000.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the power steering failed to operate as designed. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the EPAS gear failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 79,000.
