CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013 Fusion doesn’t have the same track record of power steering failure as the previous 3 model years. Of course, those owners said their steering failed at 60k–100k miles. So this appears to be a classic "wait and see" scenario.

In the meantime, there’s plenty of interior accessory problems to complain about. By themselves, each is a barely a blip on the radar. But combined, they give you that feeling of what the hell have I gotten myself into?

We had to purchase special tools and then replace all the lug nuts to be able to replace the brakes on my car.

problem #1

Fusion ES 2.4L V4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 53,200 miles

I went to the Ford Quick Lane for 5,000 mile service. Service attendant informed me that the lug nuts were swollen and loose and that they had to be replaced in order to remove the tires and to perform brake inspection. I was very shocked at the cost of replacing the lug nuts, $200! I had a concern for possible brake replacement so I reluctantly said OK to replace the lug nuts. What a rip off! When I returned home I called Ford Customer Service to complain. Since it was not covered under warranty and there was no outstanding recall they would not be able to do anything for me. Ugh! I then did a search on the Web to see if other Fusion owners experienced the same problem and walla! Lots of owners had the same problem! Other complaints identified that a special wrench was required to remove the lug nuts as well. I would have really been pissed if I would have been on the road, had a flat tire and was not able to remove my tire with the wrench that was provided by Ford! Thank goodness for that not happening! So here I am on Car Complaints Website to add my complaint about this lug nut problem! Ford should have done something by now! I certainly hope that the class action suit that was filed in August of 2017 is won and Ford has to resolve this problem and make some restitution to owners who had to go through this expensive ripoff experience.

Fix your problem Ford!

Update from Jan 18, 2018: My car is a 2013 Ford Fusion SE.
