This is my mothers car it has low mileage but looks horrible. I have seen so many complaints about the oxidized paint on the top and hood I think it is time for Nissan to step up and do a recall and repaint these cars. Mother is embarrassed about how the car looks and if she wanted to trade it in for another vehicle she would not get anything because of how it looks so therefore she is stuck with it.

My Hood, Roof and Trunk look terrible I am so embarrassed with it. People are always asking about it and I tell them it is Nissan and they won't fix them. I have a friend that had a 2005 Altima also and just wrecked it and her husband would not let her get another Nissan due to the paint issue. When you ride around and see all the other ones just like mine that ought to tell them something about their paint job on these cars. I keep having people say it is time for a new one because mine looks like a junk car. But it is running good. But I have never had or seen a car look as junky as this one does due to the paint quality or what ever it is that they did that caused it.

IT NEEDS TO BE REPAINTED and not by me. I will need a new car soon and I doubt I will purchase a Nissan due to this paint issue.

ABOUT 4-5 YEARS AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR I STARTED NOTICING A LITTLE OXIDATION WHICH I BUFFED OUT AS BEST I COULD AND STARTED PARKING THE CAR IN THE GARAGE. IT WAS FINE FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I NOTICED IT GETTING WORSE AND WORSE AND NOW, ALTHOUGH IT IS 2016, IT LOOKS HORRIBLE!

I LOVE THE CAR OTHERWISE AND JUST HIT 100,000 MILES AND HAVE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH IT OTHER THAT NOW IT'S LEAKING OIL, CAN'T FIGURE OUT FROM WHERE AND JUST CHANGED THE ALTERNATOR. I'VE GOTTEN ESTIMATES FOR PAINT JOBS BUT NOT SURE IF I WANT TO PUT THAT MUCH MONEY INTO AN OLDER VEHICLE. I THOUGHT ABOUT SELLING IT PRIVATE PARTY BUT AGAIN, IT LOOKS LIKE TOTAL CRAP! I EVEN PAID EXTRA FOR THE CLEAR COAT WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR AND IT WASN'T CHEAP AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD PREVENT THIS KIND OF THING FROM HAPPENING.

MY DAUGHTER NOW DRIVES THE CAR AND I HAVE NO PLANS ON GETTING RID OF IT NOW SINCE IT STILL RUNS GREAT (ALTHOUGH I HAVE TO CHECK THE OIL MORE FREQUENTLY) AND JUST AM GETTING FED UP WITH THE WAY IT LOOKS. I HAVE TWO OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS (NEPHEW AND COUSIN), ONE WITH AN ALTIMA, WITH WITH A MAXIMA, BOTH BLACK CARS LIKE MINE, AND THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME! SEEING HOW MANY NISSANS I SEE DAILY WITH MAJOR OXIDATION MAKES ME WONDER WHY THERE WAS NEVER A RECALL OR AN OFFER TO REPAINT OUR VEHICLES!

I bought this car brand new in 2005 and only 7 years later the clear coat had oxidized and the paint started chipping on the roof, hood and trunk. It really looks terrible. I cannot afford nor do I think I should have to pay to have this fixed. I thought I would buy another Nissan some day, but now I am not sure. Nissan should offer a discount or some sort of compensation to get the car repainted. I mean its not like the car is 20 years old or I have lived in the desert this entire time!! Driving around with a crappy paint job makes NISSAN look bad!!

My wife owns a 2005 Nissan Altima purchased brand new the car has very low mileage, because it became her second car. After having the car for several years we immediately notice the hood and roof of the car started changing colors it’s a black car so we didn’t think about it much. But after driving around we began to notice all the other Nissan Altima’s that had discolored in the same area the hood and roof of the car.

I decided to ask other Altima car owner’s if this was normal for their car to change colors like that. Most responded with the disappointment with the cars discoloration and most of them didn’t know what to do about the problem.

The Altima seemed to have been a very popular car for that year and several years after. As I notice more and more Altima’s on the road they all have the same discoloration on the hood and roof. I think Nissan originally was aware of the problem, and I think the Altima car owners have complained about the problem, either cheap paint was used for those vehicles or faulty craftsmanship was the problem regardless of the year of the Altima Nissan should be aware of the car paint problem.

This car has been an excellent car, but I am reluctant to buy another Nissan now because I have seen several other cars like this. I was set to buy a new Nissan Altima, but am discouraged now. My car has stayed in the shade most of the time, and this has happened. I feel like it's a Nissan thing, they know you don't like driving it around and they think you will just buy a new one. They lost this customer as much as I would like to have a new Altima.

I love my Altima. I have had very few problems with this car. I am very disappointed in the paint. It is faded on the top, trunk, and hood. It makes me very disgusted to ride in it. I would like Nissan to fix it as I think there was defective paint and clear coat involved. We are ready to buy a second Altima for our family but am reluctant to do so because of the problems with the paint. Please advise us with a solution.

This is about my wife's car that i started driving a couple of years ago. It was never the best paint job, but it just started to get worse and worse. The paint has been oxidized and there are spots where even the clear coat is completely gone. I thought it was because she was from Las Vegas and it was from all of the heat, but I started to notice the other blue altima's around town. Most of the blue colored Altima's around the same year were also having the same problem. I think that Nissan should take of their customers and fix this problem of putting crappy paint on their cars that don't last more than 2 years.

The paint on what used to be my pretty blue Nissan now looks like it has the mange! I am embarrassed to even drive this car to town or my job. People ask 'what in the world has happened to your car' .. I tell them clear coat and paint failure. I have seen a few more Altimas in the same state as mine. I figure they, like me are unable to dish out 1,200.00 for a decent paint job. I have owned many cars before this Altima .. I have never in my life had one of my automobiles do this. I researched cars before I purchased my car and felt Nissan was the right car and fit all my needs. I have been most pleased from the service of my car, but this paint job DID NOT hold up. I have helped restore antique cars in the past and know a lot about painting cars .. This did not hold up like a quality paint job should. Shame shame Nissan! I want my car painted and I want YOU to pay for it. If something is not done about this, I promise I will tell everyone I know and this is a lot about this. Nissan Altimas are one of the most popular cars driven where I live .. Make it good Nissan where I will want to buy another one!

It appears I am not the only one with this complaint. Started out with small chips that Nissan said were road wear (on the hood and roof). Paint and body shop said it was paint job. Now I have peeling paint/cracked clear coat on roof, hood, top of doors and the mirrors look horrible. The roof has three distinct stripes down it. Please explain how this is normal wear and tear? Wouldn't it seem logical that all of the roof would wear the same? I have had other cars that were older than this and the paint never did this. It looks to me like The clear coat is cracking. It's certainly not up to Nissan standards. I'm still on my campaign for a new paint job at Nissan's expense. I'll keep you posted.

I bought this car in 2007 it look great when i bought it, but the paint started to look crappy right away now the paint is almost all gone in the hood and same thing happening in the roof and in the trunk. I'm still paying for the stupid car and now i hate even to look at it ,i feel Nissan should pay to get my car repainted it is obvious it was a detective paint job. my previous car was a Chevrolet the paint still looks great and is 15 years old.

This is the second Nissan for me, the first one was black ,1997 G20 and the color for that year never faded. The 2005 Altima on the other hand looks like who ever painted it forgot to do the finishing spray to protect the pain. from the front hood to the rear hood all the paint is oxidized. The car's color is a green. As for the front head lights both look like old, old lamps. These two problems have never ever happened in all the cars I've owned. I've had 5 cars counting with this Altima. Very Very dissatisfied!!
