I bought this car in 2008. Had it for 11 years plus, have washed regularly, waxed, buff with dual action variable speed buffer to remove swirl marks, even clay bar to remove contaminants. About three years ago the clear coat started turning light and then peeling only on one side of the car. It has 136,687 miles on it and has been a very reliable car. The only thing that bothers me is the clear coat peeling off like cancer. What is the deal with Nissan paint? I have seen many other Altima's with the same thing happening. My paint is Sonoma Sunset (Dark Red).

Bought car and also a truck new at same time. Paint has completely left the top and hood. Even sand marks from factory are showing on the top. Car has never been in an accident, it just appears there was never enough primer and paint put on at the factory. Car runs great but looks bad. Very disappointing.

Great car, looks terrible. Where does Nissan stand with this problem? It's apparent from what I read it's a problem with Nissan Altima's. What is the solution? Thanks

The paint clear coat on the hood top and trunk is coming off. It has turned white and the paint is gone. We have 4 Nissans in our family. Mine is the only Black one and it's the only one that this has happened. I want Nissan to reliant the car ..

The paint on the roof of my Nissan Altima is fading. I had kept this car in a garage when not driving it around and made sure that it was properly cleaned and waxed so there is no reason that the paint should be fading like it is. I see many other Altima's around the Tampa area that have the same problem.

Nissan needs to care about customer care and do something about the defective paint on the Altima.
