So for the third time the AC compressor stopped working again. The compressor was replaced again and it only lasted about 1 week before it went bad. After the mechanic pulled off the new compressor he noticed their was some black oil that had messed up the compressor. After research saw it is something called black death. Was told I need to clean and or replace almost all of the AC components. Costing me over 4k to fix. So as of now, i am without AC and just waiting to trade or sell this car. Not worth spending what the car is worth to fix. I don't know if I'll go back to Altima. Great and amazing engine that has never giving me any problems but horrible everything else.

For the second time the AC compressor blew. The mechanic said it was just a bad compressor that was installed. This was the new compressor that was just installed 2 years before from Nissan. This car has been running great except for the damn AC. Nothing but problems.

I don't recall ever having to replace a compressor, especially with under 80k miles. It looks like this will be the last Altima I buy. I've had many tell me that their Toyotas don't ever have issues like I've had with this Nissan.

The air conditioner was blowing hot air. I took the car to a Nissan dealership, and had the A/C recharged for $139. The recharge did not fix the problem. The dealership then diagnosed a bad A/C compressor. I took the car to an independent technician whom I trust to get a second opinion, because it seemed unrealistic that the compressor would go bad on a five year old car with less than 32,000 miles. The technician confirmed that the compressor is bad, and indicated that this is a common problem on Altimas.

The A/C compressor part alone is $619.

Stay away from this car at all costs. This is the latest in a string of problems, which are detailed in other complaint entries.

I HAD AN 06 ALTIMA. NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT. I TRADED IT IN FOR AN 08 ALTIMA 2.5S W/CVT TRANSMISSION. MAN, WAS THAT A BIG MISTAKE. 2 WEEKS LATER AFTER BUYING THIS CAR I'M ALREADY EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE A/C AND THE CAR JERKED ON ME TWICE. THIS DEFIANTLY SHOULDN'T BE HAPPENING TO A BRAND NEW CAR. NISSAN DOESN'T BUILD QUALITY CARS. THEY ARE PIECES OF SH*T!!!!! YEAH I HAVE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY BUT THAT'S BESIDES THE POINT!!! I CAN'T AFFORD TO BE BRINGING THIS CAR BACK IN FORTH TO THE DEALERSHIP. WHEN YOU BUY A CAR YOU'D EXPECT IT NOT TO GIVE YOU ANY MAJOR PROBLEMS OR ANY PROBLEMS AT THAT SO SOON. I'VE LEARNED MY LESSON AND "WILL NOT BUY NISSAN AGAIN"!!!!!! NEXT TIME I'LL STICK WITH TOYOTA OR HONDA.
