Altima 2.5L

  • CVT transmission
  • 72,000 miles

The 2009 models have an extended warranty on the same exact part. The 2008 model which is known to use the same parts does not.. My car is not even 6 years old and it only has 72000 miles on it. I have contacted Nissan consumer affairs on this and they have failed to respond in the time they specified. I know that they will not be any assistance as I have only contacted then once before due to my paint job going bad in 2 years .. They denied helping or assisting then. If this part ever becomes a recall I not only want my money back but an apology by those who are no help in Nissan USA or overseas based on the reps .

Altima LX 2.5L

  • CVT transmission
  • 129,000 miles

After several months of the car not wanting to start and starting after a jump the car finally took a crap. Everything works except the start button but it does light up. Car towed to the dealer and service tech walks to the vehicle while it was on the flatbed and grabbed the steering wheel and said " steering lock unit". After a few days the service manager calls me and said $960 for the replacement of the said part. I said to keep the car and I would call the finance company to pick it up. At the point of the phone call I was extremely angry because this was one of many other problems I have had with this car, needs a third trans, sunroof broken constant replacement of rear brakes ect. The car has been at the dealer since the end of February and I am told a service bulletin is coming out for the full repair at no cost, 2 weeks now. No service Bulletin as of this morning 3-30-13.

After talking to several Nissan owners I will not be buying another Nissan vehicle in the future. MONEY PIT!!!

Update from Jun 9, 2013: Three days after I got the car back a light with "key" came on in the dash cluster. The dealer picked up the car and took it to the dealership, they said the keys needed to be reprogrammed. They brought the car back and it ran fine for almost another week, then it would not start again while my 17 year old daughter had it. The car had to be towed back to the dealer again, this time they told me that the steering lock set unit went bad again and they had to replace it one more time. The car is no longer owned by me as I have traded it for a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado. If you are interested in a 2008 White Nissan Altima think twice before you purchase it. Problems will follow.
