Nissan no longer make cars like they use too. They don't last nor built to last and live up to their name.

As a Nissan car owner for the second time, but this is and will be my last. I did purchase this Nissan as a used car from a Dealership. I took very good care of my car getting serviced when needed etc.. Had this car for a couple of years now and it was running good. Until I notice driving my car when its hot going up hill, my car starts to struggle. I did research and found out that it goes into a safe drive mode [stays between 60-65] it won't go any faster. Once not driving uphill car runs great. This means its the Transmission CVT, ($5000 to fix). As I did more research,Ii found out I wasn't the only one with a Nissan Atlima experiencing Transmission CVT issues. Then I learned about a Lawsuit that was settled (June 2019), I wasn't notified because my Nissan Altima is 2011, I was told my car isnt' in that campaign (part of the lawsuits) or to get fixed. WRONG! If Nissan Altimas are having the same issues as the other Altima.. YES, my Altima should be apart of that campaign.

I called Nissan Headquarters and that's what they told me, and nothing they could do. YES it is! As a Nissan Customer they should fix my car because it's Nissan who is aware of the issues their Altimas are all having. So they were basically sounding like I was the only person with. 2011 Nissan Altima having issues.

I ADVISE EVERYONE IF YOUR HAVING PROBLEMS WITH YOUR CAR, DON'T HESITATE. "CALL" NISSAN HEADQUARTERS. MAYBE IF ENOUGH OF US CALL/COMPLAINT THEY WILL DO SOMETHING OR THEY WILL LOSE NISSAN CUSTOMERS LIKE ME.

I thought as a customer, Nissan would keep their customers happy. NOT THE CASE. So if anyone is thinking about purchasing a Nissan car, please do research and see how Nissan takes care of customers to keep them satisfied or dissatisfied (that's me) . "ONE UN HAPPY USED TO BE NISSAN CUSTOMER"

Altima

  • CVT transmission
  • 60,000 miles

I bought my 2011 Altima used a few years ago. I believe mileage was about 40k. For most of that time (at least since 60k), I've had the occasional CVT transmission "hesitation" or shaking when accelerating from stop... perhaps 25-50% of accelerations.

A couple weeks before submitting this complaint, my check engine light has came on (103k). Advance Auto Parts said the OBD code indicated a transmission issue. So far one transmission repair shop said the transmission will eventually need to be replaced with a quote of $3700. I'm still investigating other options. I've uncovered Nissan's extended warranty program stemming from lots of customer CVT transmission complaints. I'm just not sure yet if it covers mine or not. Still researching.

The Nissan CVT (transmission) began to fail in that it would not up shift and feel as if it were stuck in one gear. The more one tried to accelerate, the more strained it sounded with noise level elevating as well.

Bought the car new. Had no problems until I took a long trip to Arizona from Ca. Car started loosing power. Went from 75 mph to 40 mph. Did it two days on the road. Took it to the dealer. Clerk there told me he thought it was the transmission since he already had 10 Altima's waiting to be fix. They had a extended warranty up to 130000 miles for models 2010 and below. None for 2011 and above. Confirmed it was the transmission. After a lengthy discussion with the dealer and their corporate office they reduced the charges to $700 from $4400. There was never a recall.

Hope this helps anyone out there.

Also was told it impacted their SUVs

Altima 3.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 125,000 miles

I purchased a 2011 Nissan Altima with approximately 32k miles, I am now at 125k and have taken very good care of the car. I only drive to work and back home and occasionally drive to galveston or austin which is no more than 120 miles outside of Houston max. This morning on my way to work, my card starting sputtering really bad like it was about to run out of gas OR when I put it into drive from park it would barely move. So I had my car towed to Firestone to only find out that my transmission is out and will need to pay $5000 to fix the issue. I still owe money for this car and for it to only be 6 years old is ridiculous for the transmission to stop working!! It appears that the issue has happened to other people with my make/model car. I am truly disappointed in Nissan, especially when customers are buying their cars expecting them to last for while. This is a huge investment and for it to just sit and not be able use the vehicle but still have car note to pay. Completely pissed and will never step foot near a Nissan again and will instruct other people to stay away as well. You have lost a faithful customer Nissan!

Altima Limited 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 120,000 miles

Love my car but very disappointed that Nissan will not cover this service bulletin for vehicle hesitation which leads to on and off of the check engine light. This is a service defect not from the age or miles on the car. The first bulletin was released 9/12/11 when the car was still in warranty and should have been addressed then, not wait for customers to have an issue years later. But then I guess that was the plan, so it would be out of warranty and not covered.
