Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

CarComplaints.com Notes: An increasing number of Toyotas are experiencing excessive oil consumption and the 2007 Camry seems to be leading the charge.

Owners are reporting that their engines are deprived of oil halfway through their maintenance schedules and in some cases the damage is so bad that entirely new engines need to be installed, paid out of pocket. The issue may be a result of defective piston rings and is the possible target of a class-action lawsuit.

Toyota has issued a TSB for this problem, but maintains their stance that vehicles equipped with a 2AZ-FE engine are burning through a “normal” amount of oil.

I took my Toyota in to Toyota riverside calif. Both visors would not stay up so the replaced and charged me $223.26. On March 20th 2015 the drivers side would not stay up and I rec. A recall notice and the represenative said since my car was a 07 it only covered for the recall 7 years and my cars manufacture dated Sept 07 so I was 6 months to late to get the recall taken care of. So I called Toyota motor Corp in torrance and they informed that since I paid for the visors to get fixed and paid for them they would give me a refund back. They would not honor the visor on the drivers side to get fixed and I told them that was a safety issue especially when they knew I had already replaced them and the drivers side did the same thing as the original defect. I think this is there issue to replace the visor even though it was 6 months to late from the date the car was manufactured. They never fixed the original problem with the visor recall, they just replaced it.please hepl me to get the visor corrected thank you debbie galaviz 951`/377-6128 email doobs7777777@outlook.com

****** complaint***** bought a 2007 Toyota Camry in October 06 and have been experiencing low oil levels for the past 3 years. On a couple of occasions, the oil level has gotten so low that the oil light came on. We have been reporting the problem to two separate Toyota dealerships and they've asked me to return the car for oil checks after 1000 miles, which show a lost of over a quart of oil. Our Toyota dealership has been telling us that it is normal for the Camry to consume over a quart of oil after 1000 to 3,000 miles and there is no problem to fix. I have an extended warranty through fidelity and a service specialist by the name of [xxx] at Toyota of orlando been giving me the run around about getting fidelity to give them the go ahead to resolve the issue. He said that he has called fidelity a couple of times to get authorization but they have not gotten back with him but will contact us when he gets the ok. It has been over two weeks since he said he has been trying to get the go ahead from fidelity, so we decided to call fidelity to find out why they were delaying giving the dealership the go ahead to fix the car, seeing that we have the platinum place. Fidelity informed us that no one from Toyota of orlando has ever contacted them at any time about our 2007 Camry. We then spoke with a service manager by the name of [xxx] and he has been giving me the same story about it is not unusual for the Camry to consume over a quart of oil between 1000 to 3000 miles, so there is nothing to fix. We have owned over 8 cars and has never had this type of problem. I have spoken to several mechanics and they informed me that this problem should not be happening to a newer model car like ours.

Started the car and noticed the ABS and parking brake light were on. Tachometer was jumping between 0 and 1000rpm. Air conditioner wasn't working. Drove the car a bit with no change except the tachometer jumping a bit higher than 1 and dropping back to 0. speedometer wouldn't move at all. After a bit more driving, the ABS and parking brake lights turned off and the gauges resumed normal operation. Air conditioner also started working. Since this initial problem, the gauges and lights have been operating with the same inconsistency (jumping tachometer, speedometer sitting at 0, ABS and parking brake lights on).

Dashboard of this car has been melted, which also gives trouble in visibilty. And I believe poor visibility was the reason behind a crash at 2 way stop sign. And it may cause problem in future as well. It really need a recall. Or replacement with reasonable cost.

The sticky and melting dashboard. The dash feels like clay and is pliable, it can easily be peeled away. At first we thought wiping it down would help but it seems over time the dashboard cannot be cleaned, too sticky. It's extremely annoying because it's actually so shiny that we get a lot of glare especially on a bright day. This is becoming a really big issue because it reflects onto the window when driving, which could cause an accident. This is clearly a manufacturer's defect/issue that Toyota needs to own up to and fix before someone get seriously hurt.

The dashboard on my car gets sticky from the heat and cannot be cleaned or treated. Depending on the time of day and the direction of the sun it becomes very difficult to see out of the windshield because of the glare off of the glossy/sticky dashboard. I thought this was unique to me until I performed an internet search. When I called the local Toyota dealership in fort worth, tx, they told me that they had never heard of it. I then contacted a trim shop who told me that they hear about it all of the time. I think Toyota needs to come up with a solution to solve this problem so that it is safe for my family to drive. Thank you for your consideration and help in finding a solution.

My 2007 Toyota Camry SE has dash board melted with heat from sun. The plastic coating has turned into a sticky glue like surface, if I touch the surface with hand my hand gets stuck to it like super glue. Front dash board now reflect direct light from sun and creates a very bright glare and affects driver and front passenger visibility of road. I have called Toyota company and they declined to offer any help because my car is more then 3 years old and it has morethen 36000 miles on it. This is a safety issue and I hope to see the response from manufacture thanks.

My car was purchased used in 2009. I've kept up with the maintenance and other issues such as the engine coils going out. Today, my car stopped as I was driving on a busy street. No, there wasn't a crash but there could have been. The car is a 2007. Luckily I stopped in front of the Toyota dealership. I found out that my transmission went out. It went out with no warning prior to today. I was told it would cost $4200 to repair. I don't have that kind of money. I'm still shocked that the transmission died. I purchased a Toyota because my previous car, a Chevy, was giving me so many problems. When asked why would it just die without warning...I was told it just did. There's no way of knowing. I'm not understanding that when I go for regular maintenance.

My mechanic showed me all 4 struts(F&R) are leaking too much and that they have to be replaced. I called manhattan beach Toyota and they said it is not covered under any recall or warranty & it will cost over $1400 to replace. It took the mechanic over hours to complete replacing all 4 struts. I am really shocked by this finding, it shouldn't have happened, and Toyota should take care of this problem.

The driver and passenger side visor failed on me when I put it down. This seems to be a common issue with the sun visors. This issue can be a potential hazard as it obstructs my view during normal operation of the vehicle. I have to move the visor to the side in order to have a full view ahead. If the visor is left in front of me then it is hard to see traffic and traffic lights in front of me and can potentially cause an accident. My son in-law has a similar car and received a notice from Toyota providing an additional warranty for this same issue but it was only specific to his VIN number. If this is a common issue why do they not send it out to everyone.
