The air bags have been recalled due to them being unsafe and containing dangerous material that could send metal shards into the vehicle when the airbags deploy. We took the vehicle to the BMW dealer we bought it from and they said they could not fix the airbags and we had to just drive it regardless of the fact it was dangerous to do so. BMW is liable for the issues in the vehicle but is not doing anything to fix it. Hence, I get to drive a dangerous vehicle around with no safety features because of their negligence.

Takata recall I have been calling BMW for information regarding this recall since March of 2016 yet every time I call they say that they are still waiting for the parts to arrive and it should be soon. This has been on going since March and it is now almost November. I am just concerned about driving my car knowing that my airbag may potentially throw metal sharp metal if I was to get in an accident. I think its unfair to have to drive my car not feeling safe. I really just wish they can get a remedy to this problem within a timely matter. They have been saying the same thing since March and it does not look like it will be solved any time soon.

No progress on recall campaign no. 16V-071 since notification 7+ months ago. Given the year of my BMW series 3 sportswagon (2008) and my coastal location, I am very concerned that parts are still not available to correct this dangerous problem. The recall notice directs the consumer to contact www.safecar.gov "if your BMW center is unable to remedy the defect... within a reasonable period of time."

Takata inflators are defective. I received a letter seven months ago from BMW in March 2016 informing me of a recall. I have received no further notice as to win these repairs will be taken care of. BMW should have to compensate owners for their flawed and dangerous design. As this car is my only transportation I have no choice than to drive a vehicle with safety features that could actually increase my risk of serious injury or death. This warrants financial compensation from BMW. Also, the cruise control stopped working for absolutely no reason.

When the vehicle was involved in a frontal wreck coming into contact with a box truck at a dead stop from 55mph, the driver airbag deployed, becoming punctured and particles flying all over and cutting up my arm. This causing the airbag to be completely flat. Thank god for the working seat belt.

Takata recall I received a recall notice in March for my 2008 BMW 3 series convertible, [xxx] stating that the driver's front air bag module needs to be replaced and that I would be notified when parts become available. I have recently purchased another car (not a BMW) but the trade in on the BMW is blocked by the pending recall repair. My local dealer, weatherford in berkeley, ca informs me that they still do not have the parts and have no information on when they may become available. There is obviously a safety issue for me and for an eventual buyer of the car. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

After receiving the airbag recall letter from BMW, I decided to call the near by dealership to schedule an appointment. I was told I will be contact by BMW once the parts are available for the repair. I asked for a timeline when should I expect a notification/email etc from BMW. He said mostly likely by the end of 2017 because there shortage on the parts and continue go say operate the vehicle as usual. He also indicated that there hasn't be a serious incident with BMW vehicles involving the airbag. It is unacceptable to have to wait until 2017 if not later for have the deadly defective part replaced. I am basically time bomb machine until one or two things 1. fixed by 2017 or 2. serious accident" does anyone gotten a decent respond inquiring with your BMW dealership"
