I'm posting this because there is very little information about these cars. First, let me get to the important part: Bought the car in Dec. 2016 with 70k miles. Sold it on 4/16/2020 with 129k miles. In between, I spent almost $30,000 on repairs. That doesn't even count the ones that BMW paid for.

Here's a few of them: Replace battery/power cable, $3400. Yep, battery and cable. Harmonic balancer, $3500. Whoever heard of a harmonic balancer going bad? Well, if it's got a rubber center, they do. Particulate filter, $5000. EGR cooler, $4000. The emissions system throws a new code about every two weeks and five weeks was the longest that it ever went without the CEL light coming on. This car never made a trip over 200 miles without some kind of breakdown. If I had a marrying age daughter, I would have given it her just so she might marry a tow truck driver or mechanic and we'd have one in the family. She'd certainly meet a lot of them.

There is an option called the alphabet delete, which eliminates all of the pollution controls and evidently after that, it is a fairly reliable car that will not pass emissions anywhere that they test it. I sold mine to a diesel mechanic who already owned one and said he was into S&M. I have no reason to doubt him. I actually had PTSD from this car. It has been months since I left town simply because I was afraid of it breaking down and stranding me somewhere. If you get sucked in by all of the torque and fun to drive factor, do some research and then have your best friend kick you right in the balls. At least you'll know what the future is going to feel like.
