Summary
FRONT SEAT BELT: EXTENDER MALFUNCTION This Service Information bulletin supersedes SI B72 01 15 dated April 2015. . Upper seat belt extender system is failing to deliver the belt and may exhibit one of the following symptoms: A. Seat belt is slipping off/ not being captured by the extender hand B. The seat belt extender hand is broken C. The seat belt extender hand is making noises D. The seat belt extender housing is broken E. The seat belt extender motions are erratic or illogical. The belt extender has mechanically and/or electrically failed. Excessive resistance from the safety-belt reel (twisted safety belt) does not allow the belt to extend properly, causing a failure to deliver the safety belt. The safety belt slips off the hand due to the geometry of the safety-belt extender, which fails to catch the safety belt for delivery.
