NHTSA campaign #13V564000; called BMW to find why I have not received the recall letter as my passenger side front seat airbag light is illuminated. I was told that my VIN is not included in the recall. It looks like they picking and choosing cars instead of recalling all cars that have this manufacturing defect. Needs corrective action.
The contact owns a 2006 BMW 750I. The contact stated that as soon as the vehicle was started, the SRS warning light illuminated. A message also displayed on the instrument panel indicating that the failure was with the front passenger's seat mat. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis where the technician advised the contact that the passenger's seat mat would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. There was an investigation for the failure under NHTSA action number PE07045 (air bags:frontal:sensor/control module). The investigation was upgraded to an engineering analysis and had not resulted in a recall. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000..... updated 03/08/13
