The contact owns a 2008 BMW X3. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the latch under the steering wheel disengaged and caused the steering wheel to move up and down. The contact was able to lock the steering wheel back into place and maintained control of the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 52,000. Updated 05/11/12 the consumer stated she has an appointment scheduled for June 12, 2012. Updated 06/01/12
