I had my 2012 BMW X5 for 5 years and put about 58000 miles on it when water pump started failing.

First time, the overheating warning light on when I drove on highway. The cooling fun ran like crazy. After parking on roadside for 5 minutes, car started and drove normally. After that, same problem happened 3 times within 2 weeks. Checked with my mechanic and confirmed it was due to a failing water pump. Cost of repairing is around $1200.

ONE WEEK AGO, COOLING FAN MADE HIGH SPEED NOISE. IT KEPT WENT ON AND OFF. ONE WEEK LATER, "ENGINE HOT" SIGN ON. WE SHUT OFF THE ENGINE WHILE WE WERE ON HIGHWAY. WE WAITED 20 MINUTES LATER TO COOL IT OFF. AFTER COOLED, ENGINE OIL LEVEL SIGN SHOWS 0, NOTHING.
