The local BMW dealer has not been able to give me any idea of when my car will be repaired. This is unacceptable as people have died from this defect and I am at risk every time I drive this vehicle.

Takata recall. Received recall notice March 2016. Called today to check on replacement. Was told I had to request replacement. Received call back to tell me the replacements will come in 3 months. Keep receiving offers to trade in. Are they replacing airbags in trade-ins before those not traded in? the wait is excessive.
I received the first notice of the recall in the summer of 2016 as per the BMW service department the parts for the recall were not in and there will be another notice sent out to date I have not received another notice and after checking again on my recent service visit in December 2016 there was no estimated time frame as to when the parts will be in. "takata air bag recall" we were advised of this problem over 1 year ago by our BMW service advisor and we applied for a new replacement at that time. We live in clearwater Florida and the car is parked outside in the sun all the time. I have a young child that is routinely a rider in this car and we feel that the bag should be replaced or disconnected until a replacement bag can be installed. I have called my dealer on numerous occasions and have also contacted BMW corporate only to be told they have no idea when it will be fixed! the risk of injury or death to me or my family is unacceptable. Please help us as consumers to force the manufacturer to fix this problem in the affected cars, even if you must limit those that they can sell for new vehicles! thank you.
