We were sitting in our LR, our car parked not running, no keys in it & heard a huge bang/backfire. Called 911, much smoke huge fire as high as roof on deck. Hood blew up apart, windshield blew off, rear view mirror & visors, wipers gone. Car totaled-Every one states we would have been killed if in the vehicle. Siding on house melted, sap on deck seeping & everything needs powerwashed. Kit/DR sooted up etc + much trauma!!

Our recalls were completed which ODI reports states caused over 350 fires in Buick Lesabres between years of 99-01. They replaced plastic manifold part with thicker part in 2004 according to the report.

This has been a terrible traumatic thing!! We put in a claim w GMC & they state we have to leave the car sitting 6'6 from our steps & 10 'from our deck until the situation is resolved. Our summer is ruined-can't sit on our deck-flowers were burnt & don't feel like inviting family/friends here with this terrible sight which is constantly reminding us!

Cars do not just explode sitting, not running. GMC needs to resolve this problem and why it happened!

Ok, so it is the middle of January and of course its below zero. and my car(2000 Lesabre) wont start. so I go and I get another battery, cause it wont turn over hardly at all. I put in the battery, and turn the key, and Ka-Bam. Very loud explosion. I had the hood open, 'cause the darn thing wouldnt start in the first place, and I am glad that no one was standing in front of the car, cause the fire shot out in a big ball along with all of the pieces of the plastic intake manifold. the whole back half of the manifold blew off in the explosion. I found some of it, where it bounced off of my front porch, about ten feet from the car.

I turned off the ignition, and went around to the front of the car to see what had made the big bang. what I saw was flames. so I started grabbing hands full of snow and throwing it on the motor. it slowed the fire, but the stubborn flames persisted. so in desperation I ran inside and grabbed a fire extinguisher. you can see the yellow stuff on top of the snow, in the photos. I hated throwing the snow and using the extinguisher, because it was all going right down the intake ports. but first things first, and if I did not put out that fire , there would not be nothing to save.

so any way, the fire went out and there it was, half of the intake manifold was gone. the remaining half is shattered. what a mess. glad that my kids were not too close when it decided to go. what a pain in the ass! now I have no wheels
