So in April my 2008 Lucerne would not start. Checked the battery, that was fine, and eventually got it running long enough to get it to a mechanic. While there, I explained the issue and the car died in the parking lot again. They kept the car for a week and ran every test they could think of, and found nothing wrong.

Fast forward to Sept 2018 same thing, car randomly dies in the parking lot after just being serviced for another minor issue. Had to have it towed, this time to a Buick dealership. Come to find out the back fuse block was melted, messing with the fuel pump. From doing some extensive research, it looks like this is far from unique for these vehicles. Very thankful it didn't start a fire or stall on me when driving, but the manufacturer should be fixing this and recalling. So ridiculous. $500 ollars later I'm hoping it's fixed and it will no longer be an issue.

Lucerne 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

My wife broke down in her mom's driveway after a day of shopping and it would not start. So I change fuel pump relay because it was burnt. Drove a it around home for a couple days. Then I took to work 100 miles away and on the way home on a bending back road it stalled and it was very hard to control the car and get it stopped because you lose everything steering and brakes. I smelled something burning and got out and pulled out the back seat and the fuel relay was on fire. This could of got very bad if my wife was driving. Now I am replacing the fuse box because the fuse box is burnt. Buick says we never had this problems this is the first we are hearing about this in this model. I think they are lying because this page shows different.

Update from Oct 5, 2016: Put a new fuse box in and the cost was $500.00. Working so far but this should be a recall from GM. When I called about my fuse box they said they never heard of this but they stock it everywhere in PA go figure.
