This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Vehicle is a 1998 Buick park ave. The plastic idler pulley and assembly failed and the surpentine belt no longer turned so the power steering was lost (and maybe power brakes also). This happened without warning while driving 60 mph on I 45 in houston and exiting over a cloverleaf onto beltway 8. there was no accident because I was able to use my muscle to get the car off the road. The car was towed to a garage and the pulley assembly and belt was replaced.
