This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
My wife had an accident a few years ago and the air bags did not deploy. We were told that the air bag did not deploy because it was not a direct frontal collision. Recently we had to take our car to the dealership because the check engine light stayed on. Also every once and a while the air bag light would bleak and go off. It ended up being the electronic control module $446 to repair. The dealership stated that this needed to be repaired right a way because the air bags would not deploy. If it was not for the check engine light staying on we could have had an accident not knowing that there was a defect with the restraint system.
