The contact owns a 2001 Cadillac Deville. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the steering wheel seized and extreme force was required in order to maneuver the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the power steering pump, the rack and the pinion needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 168,000.
