The contact owns a 2007 Cadillac Srx. While driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle decelerated without the brake pedal being depressed. The vehicle automatically began to jerk as if the contact had abruptly downshifted into another gear. He heard a loud grinding noise in the rear of the vehicle. There were no warning indicators prior to this failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and they stated that the rear axle pinion seal was leaking. The rear axle lost the entire consumption of oil and sustained major damage. The pinion seals were previously placed under recall, but they have since failed. The vehicle has not been repaired. The recall number was unknown. The failure mileage was 57,900. Updated 07/29/08 recall # 07V589000. Updated 08/01/08
2007 Cadillac Srx locked down while driving. Consumer stated that he lost control of the vehicle due to this failure and hit another vehicle. Consumer stated that the insurance company deemed the vehicle a total loss. The consumer received a recall notice in the mail. Recall# 07V589000.
