Just like others, after an antilock stop pedal went to the floor. Pedal never came back up and car only stops if pedal is right on the floor. So far I have changed the master cylinder and bled all the brakes and the problem persists. This car has new pads and rotors, master cylinder and brake fluid. There are no idiot lights on indicating an issue. So not only do the headlights suck by being too dim, but the brakes suck as well! For a caddy to have these issues it doesn’t put any faith in buying another one of their products. Cadillac doesn’t seem to list fixes anywhere for either of these issues. I guess when somebody gets in an accident and gets killed, they will get sued and maybe, just maybe something can be done to correct this!

If Cadillac knew of this braking problem, it should have been recalled or corrected, I have owned the vehicle for several months and the brake went to the floor upon stopping and caused an accident in Branford, CT.

Brakes went all the way to the floor. I was around the block from a Cadillac dealership when it happen so I pumped the brakes and took it in. The technician and the service advisor could not find any problems and they did not experience that happening. This was on November 21, 2018. This has not happen again but I will never forget it happening and how I felt. This was really scary and I did not know that others had this same problem until I read the complaints posted on the site. I found this site researching what causes breaks to squeaking. Now that I have read the complaints regarding this issue can you advise if a recall has been made?

I was driving around 20mph. I came to a green light and was turning right, I had to slow down to make the turn and hit the pedal and it went to the floor. I made the corner and tried to pump the brakes and they went to the floor again. I did this about 5-6 times with the same result. I didn't panic - I knew I was alone on the street and it was a flat road so I tried the brakes again with no luck right to the floor again. I knew I had to stop the car so I was in luck - it had snowed the night before and I turned the car into the snow bank on the side of the road and then put it in park.

My husband came and tried to pump the brakes with the car off and they pumped up. My husband then turned the car back on and tried the brakes with my same result - they went right to the floor for him also. We had the car flat bedded to the dealership where they called me today and told me they couldn't find a problem! They told me they will spend sometime and keep checking. I'm so concerned because I had no brakes - none! I've lost brakes before but could pump them up but this is very different I actually had no brake at all. I'm now waiting to hear from the dealership and hoping for them to find out what happened so it will never happen again. I am horrified at the thought if I was on a highway when this happened. I'm thankful I was on a back road and only traveling slowly.

When driving on the snow, my car started to slide and pedal went to the floor and I almost crashed. I looked this up and this is a common problem and you sit there for 5 minutes pumping your brakes. Then why doesn't Cadillac fix this issue or, what - not enough people died or got hurt to care? Unbelievable...

Okay, so I'm driving down the road and I step on the brakes and the pedal goes to the floor and the car doesn't freakin stop!! This has happened at least 8 times plus it has happened numerous times when my teen was driving the car. THIS IS MAJOR! DANGEROUS! Ok so, not only can I NOT see at night due to the headlights, I never know if the car will stop.

I've brought it to the dealer and naturally they said there was nothing wrong and that they would need to see it not just hear about it. It's intermittent. It can happen at any given time. I see a pattern. If the turn is sharp or if you have to do a hard brake, they seem to go out. So, I coast to a stop. It is scary, too!!

I need to pump the brakes back up. I need to put the car in park and pump the peddle. How would this be possible if I'm on the interstate going 70+? This is ridiculous. One mechanic has said that it sounds like the ABS system. Please put in a complaint if this has ever happened to you. This needs to be acknowledged and not pushed under the rug. I love this car but I do not feel safe in it. This needs to be recalled immediately.

For about 2 years, my brake pedal had gone to floor at random times while driving until it was finally diagnosed and repaired recently. When it would happen, about the last 10% of pedal travel would have some limited braking power. After this issue would occur, it sometimes took up to day or longer for it the pedal travel to return to normal. Some combination of repeatedly pumping the pedal, stopping/starting the engine, and quickly pressing the pedal while stopped would eventually restore the brake pedal to normal. After experiencing this several times over 2 years, I realized it was triggered after the ABS system was activated – during a hard/panic stop, sliding on snow/ice, or by some other driving event that briefly triggers ABS. For example, having my foot on the brake while making a left turn and heading down a hill at about 15 mph triggered the ABS (I could hear the pump and feel the pedal pulsating) at the SAME SPOT on my way to work each morning. I learned to not use my brake while making that turn on that road each morning. Some SRX owners in forums report pedal to the floor after a speed bump – which I suspect is also triggering the ABS system during the ‘hop’ over the speed bump. My Cadillac dealer was unable to reproduce the problem – and said they would just be guessing at the problem since there are ‘no codes’ or error messages on the dash.

My local mechanic suspected that the ABS control module had an internal valve/seal leak/failure. The theory is that once the ABS activates and diverts fluid to the wheels that have traction (still spinning), the ABS valves/chambers would ‘stick’ open. The two AC Delco parts cost about $450 on Amazon plus about $300 labor. Replacing these parts FIXED MY PROBLEM. Since repair, I have deliberately slammed on brakes to trigger ABS and the issue no longer occurs.
