The contact owns a 2008 Cadillac Sts. The contact stated while driving various speeds the power steering would suddenly malfunction making the steering wheel very difficult to turn. The contact indicated that no warning lights or sensors illuminated during the incident. After turning the vehicle off and restarting the it the vehicle would function normally. The contact also indicated that the tire pressure monitoring system indicated that the tire pressure was normal although the tire pressure on all the tires was low. The failure was not diagnosed nor was the vehicle repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 76,000.
Tilt steering failed to lower steering column in proper driving position. The power motor unit failed and it caused the steering column to stay in the highest position, making it unsafe to drive. The dealer replaced the motor assembly and it corrected the problem.
