If your engine lopes at an idle or lopes badly in reverse or stalls when slowing down, clean your throttle body. a telltale sign of this problem is check engine light coming on with a code "throttle body sensor idle LOW". If you do it your self it can be done for $5 and take 30 minutes even for a novice do it yourself mechanic. unscrew intake hose bolt (8mm) past mass air meter sensor and small hose from throttle body (8mm). remove the two 10mm screws (passenger side under intake hose) holding the large black plastic piece on top of motor. remove small vacuum line in the front of the plastic piece (just pulls off) and another vacuum hose near the firewall underneath black plastic piece. remove out of way. once you can see the butterfly spray carb & choke cleaner inside and wipe clean with a rag. dont be afraid to stick your hand way inside. you will be amazed how black the rag is from carbon buildup. once you do this a few times you can start the truck with intake removed and spray a little inside while running. DO NOT STICK YOUR HAND IN BUTTERFLY WHILE RUNNING. because the intake is off your mass air meter sensor will not the let the truck run smooth so it helps to have another person give it just a little gas. after you shut it off wipe it clean again and reassemble. truck may idle a little high for the next day or two but once the sensor reads that it is clean again it will adjust for a smooth idle.
