cracked rim

Had a slow leak in left rear tire for months and decided to get it checked out, so the dealer tells me it's a crack in the wheel and I caused it by hitting a speed bump or pot hole. Also said I shouldn't put it in track or sports mode very much (I don't). I've been driving for over 55 years and never had an issue like this before. This is a tire defect but GM will not acknowledge it as such. Car is under original warranty and his less than 15,000 miles.

2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport with less than 10,000 miles that has been pampered, never raced or tracked. Car has vibration due to both driver side wheels being bent. Hit a pothole on interstate while driving car normally which led to bent wheels and vibration in car. From researching the issue, found that many other Corvette Grand Sport and Z06 owners have experienced bent wheel issues. Wheels are cast instead of forged and simply not strong enough for a high performance car like this. GM needs to recall these inferior wheels.

The efing wheels crack and let the air out of the tires. I suspect that the tires are what has been keeping the wheels from disintegrating.

Definitely an awakening. I started experiencing a leak with one of my rear tires. I took it in to get the leak fixed. I was told the problem was fixed. It was leaking again the next day. I took it back in and again I was told it was fixed. It leaked again and this time I was advised the rim had two cracks with an estimate of 1,305.00 for the repair and that it would not be covered under warranty. I contacted Chevrolet and the next thing is I got a call from the dealership and they were willing to work with me at a reduced cost of 620.00 for a new rim.

I love the car and enjoy driving it so I gave in and last week the car was repaired. The new rim fixed the problem. I do have concerns about it happening again or to one of the other rims. I don't think I should have had to pay for any of the repairs. I guess I was a bit lucky because apparently some have had issues with just 500 miles. Chevrolet should step up to the plate and pay for replacement of all four rims. I find it hard to believe they won't cover the defective rims under the warranty. Disappointed.

I am very careful with my car, I'm 62 years old and am past the point of showing off. Dealer says I had to have hit something to crack the rim, but there is no damage anywhere to car body or tire or wheel except the crack. If you hit something that would crack a rim in this car, you would know it. $830.00 plus mounting and balancing.

Not enough room to express my feeling on this subject about cracked rims on a performance car like a corvette.

cracked rim

I recently had a slow air leak in my left rear tire on my C7 2017 Corvette Grand Sport. I went to Discount tire and said it was not a nail, but a crack in the wheel. I only have 10K miles and really baby this Vette so how could this happen? I see there are some lawsuits against GM concerning these wheels. Has anyone got them to replace the wheels?

This is a known problem with the Grand Sport wheels and was never divulged by GM or the dealership. I am looking for compensation from either dealership or GM. Purchase car from Bradley Hubler Chevrolet in Franklin, Indiana. This tire was leaking and the dealer knew it. I have contacted them but received no response. If this continues to be a problem with the other wheels, I'll be forced to spend $3000 on after market wheels. This sucks.

Just want everyone to know that my rim is cracked and it blew my tire out causing me to have to replace the tire thus far, to only find out that my rim has to be replaced as it is not able to be welded to prevent air loss. It was determined that the crack, even though it appears to be a hairline crack, is too deep to weld and replacement is needed. Kind of odd considering normal driving once in a awhile and others have had this same issue with their rims. I will consult with GM to see is this is something they will address with me.

http://gmauthority.com/blog/2019/05/new-lawsuit-alleges-gm-fit-c7-corvette-grand-sport-z06-with-faulty-wheels/

I began losing tire pressure in my passenger rear tire. I took it back to my local Chevrolet dealer (Tom Gill) for a tire inspection. I was informed that I do not need a new tire, but there was a hairline crack on the inside rim.

I asked for a replacement and have not been contacted. I had to recontact Tom Gill Chevrolet and was told that the rim was ordered but no date was given on the replacement. I was informed just to keep adding air if I want to drive the Corvette. Who in their right mind wants to drive an automobile on a cracked rim??? Chevy needs to correct this problem!

After investigating a long term slow leak in my right (passenger side) rear tire I discovered my rim was cracked and after contacting my local dealer, I was surprised to hear that GM would not cover this under factory warranty.
