So when my incident of the unwanted air bag deployment was reported to GM, they did their usual investigation. They checked to see if I had added any lift kit, electrical, or other additions or alterations to the truck that did not originally come with it. If I had done so, they were going to say that is the reason the unwanted air bag deployment occurred, which is how they have done previous customers. Well, I had added no additions nor alterations to the truck, it is in the same state it was in when I purchased it, so they could not use that as an excuse to blame me.
So then they told me, the reason for the unwanted air bad deployment is that the sensors had sensed an anticipation that the truck was going to flip, and that they are made to go off if they anticipate a flip. Well, I did not come close to flipping, I did not even have an accident, neither did I come close to an accident, not one scratch on the truck, and where I went off the road at, the terrain was pretty smooth and level. Keep in mind the truck is equipped with an off road package, which is suppose to be able to handle some type of off road surface. The Chevy Colorado, Chevy Camaro, and other GM vehicles have had the same issues with the sensors being too sensitive.
GM decided as a courtesy (and through forced recalls) to take care of the damages for these customers and adjust the sensors, however, failing to include mine and other Chevy vehicles. How biased. It is a shame that GM denies all of the negligence on the behalf of customers and faulty equipment who purchased these vehicles unless someone steps in with the power to make them do the right thing amongst customers.
