Have found many complaints about Chevy Traverse and the AC not working properly. Many of the complaints started with the ac making a hissing noise from the compressor when the ac is on and it is working - blowing cool air. However, later on the hissing noise stops and the ac light will come on and blink 3 times then go off and now the ac is only blowing hot air. There have been complaints on cars from 2009 up until the recent years of 2016 that I have found about the same problems. Many people have mentioned that there should be a recall from GM over this problem because it is costly to fix and involves numerous parts that cause the problem to happen.
AC Stopped blowing cold air about 6 months ago. Thankfully it was just as the weather was cooling down and we didn't have a scorching summer. I literally wouldn't have been able to drive my kid around in it. Smells and sounds weird too. Been told its the actuator. I haven't fixed it yet because there's so many other issues with this vehicle that I keep shoveling money into against my will.
I have a 2009 Chevy Traverse and the actuator went out and was replace by the dealer about 2yrs ago. It worked great until the same problem occurred again. Same exact actuator that was replaced about (2yrs ago) went out on me around October. Which wasn't bad when it was wintertime, but now that it's close to summer and having 75* + it's horrible. So I called the dealer to see if maybe they had a recall on the problem, BUT of course they didn't and he told me that I could bring it back in and they could fix it. I was like its only been a couple years ago since you replace it the first time and I didn't want to spend $300 plus dollars to have it replace AGAIN.
So I went to our local Autozone, the part was only $47 and they would have to order it. The guy told me that 2009/ 010 Traverse's were really bad for the actuators going out and there were like 5 of them in the car. He said they sold at least 1 or 2 month because of them going out and didn't have them in stock. Now that's ridiculous if there is a problem that bad why wouldn't they have a recall and fix this problem. My car just blows hot air nonstop, all the vents work, defrost works and the back of the car works great the only thing is it blows hot, I mean really hot air does anyone know which actuator it is and how to change it. Step by Step would be helpful..
I feel that the dealership should be responsible to fix this but that's not going to happen. I just don't want to spend $300 + dollars to fix the problem when they should have fixed it the first time and at least last longer than 2 yrs.
