In reference to my 2005 Chrysler 300 - I went out to drive my car and it would not shift out of park. I found out it was a small pin in the shifter mechanism. As I researched online, I found this problem to be wide spread with Chrysler 300 owners. The dealership knew what I was talking about the minute I described the problem. They said it is very common and they see this regularly. They also said that Chrysler does not sell that particular part separately and the only way to fix it is to replace the entire unit. Lastly, the dealership even questioned why this problem hasn't been recalled. I also called Chrysler customer service to explain my problem (and mounting cost to tow my car and have it fixed). Before I got the description out of my mouth, he said "your car won't shift out of park - right?" I said yes and he told me he hears it all the time. That Chrysler has recalled this problem on a few years, but not most of them and not mine. He said he doesn't know why it hasn't been recalled, but he suggested I send a letter to them along with my bills. He didn't know if they'd pay, but it was better than nothing. He told me to reach out to your organization and see what you all said.
I parked my car on Sunday mid-day. I tried to leave on Monday morning for the store and it will not move out of park. Nothing has been done other than my researching the net and finding that you've had hundreds of complaints as well as Chrysler's 'partial recall K39' that they're saying will only cover certain VIN's. that is crap! if the spring is broken it's broken. Don't matter where they made it or what stamp is on my dashboard. As a 37 year old medical biller, that has a husband whom works out of town Monday through Friday, with a child at home (12) and my currently having a broken foot....I'm pretty mad that I had to follow Chrysler instructions to their mechanics of how to remedy this problem on their select cars that they are willing to take care of. I took my laptop to the car, sat crunched up in it because there is a heat index out of the roof here so I needed the A/C on, followed their instructions and well what do ya know.... that piece of crap junk spring is broken off the front left pink pulley thing. Now, I get to sit and wait for them to 'decide' at the case management senior escalation team, if they are going to adopt my VIN into this recall coverage. Wth! are you kidding me" I did not make the car. I did not break the car. Their crappy, cheap behinds made a faulty shifter and now we have to take the brunt of it. It is to an extent a safety issue because 'what if' there was an emergency that I had to go to" this is crazy! I tell ya what if... I'd have to hire a taxi to take me to the emergency or call ems to take me a 1/2 block down he street if my sons asthma flared out of control. I'd get stuck not only with a hefty bill tow it, bill to the dealer to repair, but a bill to fix it and ems bill. This is crazy! and I'm not stopping until we get some idiot higher up at Chrysler attention.

My cars engine started clacking and smoking for several days - then the engine started shaking and would die down and almost stop when driving. I had it towed to the auto shop and was told that they would not honor my warranty because there was a lot of sludge in the engine and I had not changed the oil on a regular basis. My husband kept up to date on all changes of oil. It is a 2.7 engine made by Chrysler manufacture with 78,844 miles and the warranty is up to 80K miles. I filed a complaint with the ag's office in boston, MA where I live and called Chrysler to tell them that I know about the 2.7engine sludge problem. The ag is investigating it while my car is currently at the Chrysler service center waiting for me to go and get it back. I also have suspension problems; horn does not work, air bag control sensor problems, struts replaced, and many, many, more along the years. The engine is a 2.7 engine. I want my warranty honored as I cannot assist my disabled daughter unless I work and have transportation for both her and myself. I don't know what to do - I am currently sending as much information on complaints of this nature to the atty gen office as they requested. Can you help me?
Gear shift gets locked into park and will not go into reverse when car is on and brake is pushed in. In this case we had to remove parts around the shifter to get to the pink release tab that is located below the shifter, and manually push the pink tab so that the shifter could go in reverse. The car is placed in neutral as of now, so that the car doesn't get stuck in park again. The emergency brake is on but can be a very serious problem if not fixed.
1. the events leading up to the failure. There are hundreds of reports on the internet about long term and systemic oil sludge problems causing sudden catastrophic engine failures in Dodge and Chrysler vehicles using the 2.7L V6 engine spanning from approx 1998-2005. My well maintained 2005 Chrysler 300 engine failed suddenly and dangerously while driving. And this was 1 month after paying the Chrysler dealer $850 to change the transmission fluid and coolant at factory suggested dates. With only 56,000 miles and oil changed every 5000 miles (owners manual suggests 7500) the Chrysler dealer initially wanted over $2000 to fix an unexplained internal water pump leak, and timing chain failure. Only after heated discussion did they back down and repair it for a $100 deductible under the 7/70 drivedrain warranty. 2. the failure, how often it occurs, its consequences. Simply using google and entering "Chrysler 2.7L engine failure" leads to hundreds of reports of suspected oil sludge (due to poor engine design and oil not flowing properly) that causes sudden and dangerous unexplained engine failure involving thousands of dollars. Chrysler and its dealers first attempt to blame customers for not changing the oil enough or using the right oil etc. In my case my dealer said "...Chrysler is being very quiet asking us to use all new parts and not giving us alot of information...". 3. what was done to correct the failure; I.e, parts repaired or replaced (and if old part is available). My dealer said Chrysler told them not to talk about it and to use new and modified parts they gave them and not to use any of the old parts.
I have had numerous problems with my Chrysler 300, which are becoming more costly and defeating the purpose of my purchasing a new car. First, I was subject to a recall regarding the transmission. Next, the rack and pinion went out. Thankfully that was covered under warranty. Now I have to repair the outer tie rods when I have less than 75,000 miles on the car. This repair is $500 on top of what I have to pay for the car payment and is not covered under warranty. The brakes recently had to be replaced (another $350) and I am also being presented with issues pertaining to the oil pan (which apparently is made of plastic).
Shifter assembly will not shift from park to reverse this may be a problem I have talked to other Chrysler 300 owners who have had to replace part avg price about $500 my car has 24,000 miles on it and I do have my old part.
Chrysler 300C pull, drift and rear end bang issue. The vehicle pulled to the right and when it was placed in reverse, at times, a bang noise and or grind was heard before it would lock and begin to roll. These problems were noticed when the vehicle was first purchased.
