Long Story, but the short side is,, problem was not the transmission..I got a code for P0344 which is Cam Shaft Position Sensor Circuit. Essentially, when this switch goes out, it sends the car into "limp" mode which also causes the Tranny to use only 2nd and 3rd Gear. I read several complaints about bad transmissions (42RLE) that resulted in changing the Tranny and the PCM. Check this switch first! It's on the front of the motor, 13mm wrench, 4 minute swap. Can probably pull the old one out and check it with a magnet and a DVM, didn't try that as I was getting the Code.
