CarComplaints.com Notes: The Chrysler Crossfire has a nasty habit of having the back window fall out. While there are reports of this happening to every model year (2004-08), the 2005 has it worst. Naturally this problem tends to happen beyond the standard 3 year / 36,000 mile warranty leaving owners to pick up the tab along with the shattered pieces of glass.

The rear window delaminated from the convertible top and is falling out. Chrysler is well aware of the issue and has admitted there was a problem with the adhesive. They have failed to recall the tops of this car and it a serious safety issue. They are hand picking who gets replacement roofs. The cost of the roof is 2,000 Chrysler has an X31 extended warranty that covers this issue but not everyone qualifies. The car needs a recall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! shame on Chrysler and they're very poor customer service!!!!

This bulletin supersedes service bulletin 23-035-11, dated September 01, 2011, which should be removed from your files. This is a complete revision and no asterisks have been used to highlight revisions. Subject: Convertible soft top back glass loose and/or detached from fabric (10 yr. / 100,000 mile warranty extension) overview: This bulletin involves inspecting the convertible soft top back glass and if necessary replacing the convertible top cover. Models: 2005 (zh) crossfire roadster note: This extended warranty bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with convertible soft top. Symptom/condition: The customer may experience convertible soft top back glass loose and/or detached from fabric. Diagnosis: If the customer describes the symptom, perform the repair procedure. My rear glass fell out of my convertible while it was sitting still, I did my research and found out that this is a very common problem with the 2005 year model. I found that Chrysler put a ten year 100,000 mile warranty on the top which is covered by the service bulletin listed above. I called Chrysler and was told that not all are covered because they are state specific which is bull and they should cover all top that develop the problem no matter where you live, a defect is a defect no matter where you live.

The rear glass window on the convertible top came loose on one side and is coming loose across the top. I have discovered since this problem occurred that Chrysler is aware of the problem and is refusing to issue a recall inorder to fix the defect. My vehicle has always been garage kept, and the top is in excellent condition.

The back glass adhesive on the convertible soft top on my 2005 Chrysler Crossfire roadster is failing on the drivers side almost 3 inches across top and bottom, causing the glass to separate from the fabric top. This adhesive is the only support for the window to the fabric top. The window/top connection currently does not provide a waterproof seal and allows water to enter the vehicle. This presents a safety hazard when the adhesive fails completely and the glass falls out on a roadway or turns into a projectile inside the car while driving. Very costly to the consumer to repair should be recalled as it looks like there are many others with the same problem.

As I was pulling out of my parking space after work, the rear window of my convertible fell into the passenger compartment of the car. Scared the hell out of me. Fortunately I wasn't going very quickly or I might have lost control of the car. Got the car home and looked the issue up on the internet and was surprised to find that apparently this is a common problem with this car, Chrysler knows about it, but will not do anything about the problem. Their answer is to install a new roof at $3,800. I consider this a safety issue because a piece of glass coming loose like that in a moving vehicle can cause a real problem.

Rear window simply falls out of Chrysler crossfire convertible top. No support for glass other than thin strip of heat seal to canvass. Could be serious if failure at speed. Chrysler offers co-pay ($890) to owner for a new top so they acknowledge the problem.

2005 Chrysler Crossfire roadster rear window fell out of the top. This could have fallen behind my car and hit another vehicle and injured someone. I belong to a Chrysler car club and found this is a common failure for this year model. I have contacted Chrysler and am waiting for their opinion. I am told the top replacement is about $3000.

Vandalism to convertible top, slashed. Convertible top needs to be replaced, replacing top by manufacture will take until at least January 29, 2010 from October. This is hazardous due to driving with a slashed top creates a major noise distraction as well as inclement weather problems such as snow and rain distracts driver and may somewhat impair vision etc.

The convertible top will not open when the red light is lit on the rear spoiler button. If you drive 75 feet or so the red light goes off on the spoiler button and then the top will open. The top also will not close when this light is lit unless you drive until it goes out.
