CarComplaints.com Notes: The Chrysler Crossfire has a nasty habit of having the back window fall out. While there are reports of this happening to every model year (2004-08), the 2005 has it worst. Naturally this problem tends to happen beyond the standard 3 year / 36,000 mile warranty leaving owners to pick up the tab along with the shattered pieces of glass.

Told there was a recall but they ( Chrysler ) couldn't help. VIN didn't match up with their " numbers"

The window FELL OUT...there is a recall for that! Numbers don't mean a thing.

POOR workmanship !!!

There was absolutely no warning. Drove the car one day, went out the next morning and the window was hanging detached from the cloth top. The glass apparently has a tape on it and a glue from the tape to the cloth top. What a poor design. This should have been stitched and the glass should have either fit into a two sided channel of material or had small holes drilled in the glass and stitched (after gluing) in place to keep it solid for years.

There is no excuse for such poor design other than lame engineering/design. Somebody took a short-cut and simple glue does not hold up for long with temperature variations. Chrysler needs to create a cause and corrective action and pro-actively recall these 2005 cars and repair their oversight and poor design. I spent many years in aerospace design.....glad our missiles aren't designed so poorly!

I found the announcement online that the rear window on 2005 crossfires were coming unglued from the canvas tops and that Chrysler was fixing them (putting on a new roof) at their cost. My window on my car (only 70,000 miles) was separating and met the 10 years 100,000 mile conditions specified in the announcement. I contacted Chrysler when the local dealer said they would not honor this. Chrysler said that the announcement I read to them was not valid and they could not do anything to help me. Chrysler is the worst company ever to deal with, they do not want return buyers, I have owned two chryslers and will never own another!

I bought this car used last February with the extended warranty and now the glass is coming apart from the soft top. The extended warranty company will not cover the problem as it is considered "trim". Not like I can drive it down the road with the back glass coming out and I contacted Chrysler but they responded to me that there is no known recalls for this problem but yet it is everywhere on the web for the 2005. I can't find anyone who can or will repair the problem, the only solution is that I need to replace the whole top for about $2000.00. I paid $1700.00 for the extended warranty that doesn't cover the problem. Seems like Chrysler needs to step up and do the right thing and fix this problem, we fixed their problem when they needed the "bail out"......

My 2005 Crossfire has less than 70,000 miles and the back window is falling out. Dealership will not take care of the problem. Chrysler has extended warranty bulletin #23-035-11 extends warranty for 10 years or 100,000 miles on 2005 rear window but will not cover my vehicle.

After going around & around with Chrysler & dealer I found my car was origanaly sold in Mi. I purchased the car in Fl. & live here. The extended warranty- 10 years or 100,000 miles only applies to car that were origanaly sold in the HOT weather states. Makes no sense to me, Chrysler was a problem no matter where the car was sold, but they willl not do anything for the customer who was lucky enought to have bought a used vehicle from a northern state. I did hear of a shop in Sarasota that can glus it back in if the top has not shrunk (never gave that a thought). Will be getting the car in next week to see if he can help.

the 05 crossfires a looker but the rear window has been leaking and i decided to put down the top cuz it was a beautiful day and the rear window fell out , i got pissed off and even more when Chrysler insists that its not their problem to get it fixed or replaced. then i found a recall on these tops but yet they say it don't have anything 2 do with it. I am starting to regret buying this chrysler. i have owned a lot of different makes of vehicle and this is the worst peace of sh*t ever and after hearing all the bad sh*t about ford chrysler takes da cake , even a YUGO would probably been better. it might not go were you go but at least their f*cking window stay were they're supposed 2 stay.

My back window fell out also of my convertible crossfire . Found an upholstrey person who said the entire top would need replaced. She informed me they didn't make them anymore. Luckily, by chance, she had a top from a previous customer. BUT WHO KNOWS HOW LONG THIS ONE WILL LAST! i have 3m double sided tape around my OLD glass with it also glued with loctite glass glue. Im keeping it for WHEN i may need it in the future and will continue to glue & tape the window in if i have too! What a CHEAP way of producing such a nice ideal of a car! Ran low 13's on the drag strip, YET the back glass won't stay put!

Really disappointed in Chrysler and frustrated that I've read on the Crossfire Forum that Chrysler was issuing a recall yet the dealer and Chrysler Customer Service say "NO". My top is in PERFECT condition. Started getting water inside close to the back window....discovered the window leaks and it's simply faulty glue !!!!!!!! Ridiculous !!!!!!! So now I can assume this is a part of the car that IS NOT Mercedes? It warrants a recall not a brand new top at $2,000 - $3,000 (that's a guess). At a minimum the dealer should reglue the window at Chrysler's expense. I'm in too if anyone starts a class action suit !!!

I don't know there was a problem with the glass falling out of my 2005 crossfire until I ask on line if anyone else had this problem. I called Chrysler about it they said I had to go and let my dealership check it out then call them back, well I did all that. When they called me back they told me that when the one corner came unglued I should have had the top replaced but I don't want to spend $2000.00 on a new top when it don't need one and only thing wrong was one corner or the window was falling out. So I had it glued together. Then one day I went out to go somewhere and the window had fallen out expect for the part that was glued, who new the rest of the window would fall out. Now Chrysler want fix it, and the letters I have been reading I.m not the only one with this problem. The guy in FL. that is getting his Attorney wonder if he would help all of us to get this problem fixed. or tell us what we can do, there is hundreds of us out there.

I think Chrysler should do a recall and they should fix this problem. I'm going to get up with my NC Attorney General and see what he says. I am at a loss, I have this nice car that I care about and then this happens, I worked hard for my money so one day I would be able to have nice things like this, this should not have happen, you are right it is a pain in my ass.

If any one out there as an idea pass it on to all of us with this problem. Thx to all that let me know I was't the only one with this problem.

Bought This Car in July of '07 it only had 8,000 on it when I bought it. I have always loved this car and take very good care of it. No one has ever driven it but me, it is always kept in a garage, even at work and still looks and smells brand new ! However while driving to work the other morning I heard some kind of rattleing or flaping sound that seemed to be coming from the passanger side rear of the car. Imagine my surprise when I got to work and examaned the car only to find that the rear window was becoming detatched from the convertable top. It was fine the night before when I put the car in my garage. I called the dealership only to be told there was nothing to be done other than to replace the whole top to the tune of about $3000.00 There is nothing else wrong with the top and as I mentioned it still looks BRAND NEW.

Aparently I am not the only one who has this problem. It is obviously a blatent lack of responsability for Chrysler not to address this issue. I think we should all band together and bring a class action suit against them, maybe then the least they would do is recall this car for repairs.

Came home one afternoon and looked at the car, the back glass had came unglued from the vinyl top! It has been this hot before, but it has never done this. Called the car dealer, they said it was not covered under any warranty or recall. Apparently several ppl are having this problem. We was told we would have to go to a specialty shop and see if it could be fixed. After reading some of the comments, it looks like I will be told the same thing--new top! Chrysler really needs to take care of their customers better than this. If it is happening to this many cars-it is obviously a manufacturing default. I had a Lebarron convertible in the past and NEVER had this problem. Chrysler, this is a good way to loose a lot of customers. I loved my lebarron.

Crossfire Limited V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 38,400 miles

My husband and I purchased a 2005 Crossfire yesterday from a little old lady that had the car garaged at all times with 38,000 miles on it. We did not check the window because she said the top hardly went up and she only drove it when the sun was out. I had no idea that there was going to be a potential problem with the glass until I joined a forum especially for Crossfire owners to find out more about this great car I had just purchased, or so I thought! I ran across the issue with the back window coming unglued on so many owners with low mileage in the states of Florida, Texas, and other hot and humid states that I realized " Oh, my god........what are the odds that my car has this problem?" Lo and behold, I went outside, ran my finger around the outside edge of the where the canvas and glass meet and it was indeed separating!!!!! There is an are at the left hand corner, shaped like the letter "C" that is unglued. I have made several calls in attempt to find out what Chrysler is doing for their customer's and so far all I've been told is to make an appointment at a local dealer to have them look it. I am soooo pissed and feel like I've been duped! I don't know if the previous owner knew about this but it's my problem now. I'm hoping it can be repaired since it's about 18" of repair but all of my research says otherwise; that I will have to pay almost $ 3,000 for a replacement top due to a MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT?. I will not rest on my laurels until I get to the bottom of this. This should not be happening to us!! At least, if we need to get a replacement top, Chrysler should subsidize this. I feel so ripped off right now :(

It really is upsetting for so many consumers to spend hard-earned money on a vehicle and then have the back glass come lose and fall out. It's simply poor design- a thin line of glue between the fabric top and the glass was the only thing holding it in place to start with. What a joke! And of course the only option the dealer gives me is to spend nearly 2 grand for a new top.

Thanks, I like this website.
