This is getting monotonous, but I am going to document the problems with my2008 PT Cruiser. On way home from a trip, about 60 miles in, nearly home, gauges do their dance, car loses power, and idiot lights come on. This happens over and over as I am exiting the highway near home. Finally, car dies on a curve where I can't get over on the shoulder just as I am talking to the manager of the local Chrysler dealership about what is happening. He tells me to get it to them. Thankfully, car starts right up. Take it there and leave for a day. Nothing is the result. No codes. Doesn't do it for them....duh. They didn't drive it 40-60 miles like I did. No solution.
I'm told over the next two weeks that they can't fix it unless the computer gets a code, but no code comes out. I'm told the best things would be if it broke down as then, perhaps, a code will be revealed. Of course, I could be smashed by a big rig or break down in an area of no cell reception, but, oh, well! I have read of others with this same problem. Surely someone knows something. Mechanics used to be able to fix cars without computers. Now we need computer geniuses to deal with our cars. I have emailed my concerns to Chrysler. I'm hoping to hear back before the car breaks down or I get killed.
