CarComplaints.com Notes: Engine cradle rot is a serious problem in the 2004-05 Chrysler Pacifica. Chrysler admits they didn't apply enough coating to the vehicle's sub-frame during assembly, but only offered to cover a very small portion of the vehicles they messed up.

So what happens when your engine cradle rots? Well, the engine could fall out for starters. It could also cause problems with the suspension and other components but did I mention THE ENGINE CAN FALL OUT? The worst part is you might not know because there's no way to see the problem without getting under the car.

If you have a 2004-05 Pacifica, make sure to have your mechanic inspect your sub-frame for rust and corrosion.

Purchased Chrysler Pacifica 2004 6-4-04. Immediately after purchase began to make a loud chirping/squeaking noise. Bought in for repair 6-10 (144 miles). Service advised defect had been repaired ( new belt ). picked up car on 6-14-04 noise was still very evident/not fixed. On 6-15 reported defect was still not fixed. 6-16-04 dropped off car for same defect (268 miles). 6-19 advised they had corrected defect( replaced belt and shimmied power steering pump). Picked up 6-19 not fixed. Dropped off third time on 6-22 (367 miles). 6-24 service department advised fixed car(filed rep advised shim power steering pump/ pulley). Removed engine mount and power steering pump. Picked up car 6-26 still making loud chirping noise. Noise was constant. Brought in my car for 4th time for same defect. Dropped off car 6-30. As of today, dealer is claiming they are still working on car and cannot fix defect. They need more time. I am extremely concerned about this defect and understand there was a bulletin released (10005991) on Feb. 17, 2004 that sounds very much like the defect I am reporting to dealer/service department. I fear driving the car as I don't know what the issue is and cannot understand why the dealer/service department cannot fix this defect. Service manager (pete martino) fails to return my calls and I am being completely ignored (because I am a woman). I asked to personally speak to this field rep (jim berry) yesterday as I wanted to understand the defect. Pete martino refused for me to speak or see the field rep. At this point I feel like I am trapped with a car that obviously has a defect and fear for my safety in driving this vehicle. Basically the attitude at this dealer is to give me the run around. They are just waiting for me to get a lawyer involved prior to having to do anything to remedy the situation. In the meantime I fear for my safety in driving a car with a defect and the dealer/service department are unable to fix.
