Driving on I-295 in the evening when engine suddenly, dramatically and without warning lost power and started stalling. My wife was very nearly struck by traffic from behind due to the sudden loss of power while on a major highway. We were informed by a local mechanic that the engine is blown and needs to be replaced.

I was on my way to work on June 28th the car began to knock and shake wildly. My engine just blew, I had oil changes regularly. After doing some research and working to find me a new engine, my mechanic said that that this engine is notorious for blowing and they usually go at 50,000 miles. At least I got 70,000. It is sitting in his shop right now, I can't pay for it. This car cost $30,000. New. I leased it now it will cost $36,000. And I will have nothing to show for it come December!

Sludge build up in the engine, there is coolant like into the oil line. Which has made the oil spit out from under the head gasket and spit out on top of the motor cover. The water pump and time change needs to be replace when they notice the sludge in the oil pan of the car. They in turn took of the top of the engine and the sludge was just thick and gritty. I was told by a Chrysler technician that Chrysler is aware of the problem with the 2.7 liter engines.

Contact owns a 2002 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled while driving.. upon taking the engine apart and inspecting it, the service dealer stated that there was a buildup of sludge in the engine. The dealer suggested the contact replace the engine. The manufacturer needed to see the oil change receipts. The consumer sent the invoices to the manufacturer. The consumer did not know what the manufacturer or service dealer was going to do about the problem.

The vehicle's engine seized while driving. The vehicle had a continuing brake problems and would die while in motion. The consumer requested reimbursement. When the vehicle was first purchased at 92 miles, there was a problem with low oil. The consumer was advised that the transmission leaked. The vehicle would continue to lose power and the oil light had come back on. Other problems were: The brake light was intermittent, the front end would vibrate, the brakes squealed, there was slight leak at the proportioning valve, the top was pulled down and the radio had become inoperative, the side mirrors and the power locks had become inoperative, and the brake pads had worn down to 2/32.

Automobile was running normally, suddenly there was a loud "clacking sound" from the engine, oil light went on, car shut off as I slowed down and pulled off of the turnpike. Chrysler is refusing to honor warranty, despite fact that car has been maintained properly. A new engine is required (this is the infamous 2.7 Chrysler/Dodge engine).
