My wife told me that she had a close call; almost hit the car in front of her some time ago because the van would not come to a complete stop fast enough. Last night on the highway, I pressed hard on the brake pedal. The car slowed down but would not come to a complete stop, resulted in bumping into the car in the front. Both the passenger and I thought the van should have stopped in time to avoid such an accident. Although I was pressing hard on the pedal, I could not feel any pumping of ABS. We are not sure if the car is safe to drive around. Would like to know if there is something that can be checked out and/or fixed.

Washer and nut came off the front wheel while consumer was going 15mph. ABS light came on as a warning, and vehicle made a grinding noise. Consumer got home, and found caliper was the only thing holding the wheel. Pin was not put in during manufacturing. Consumer states a flat washer and flat nut (not a lock nut) were used, also there is not a crown nut, nor a cotter pin installed. Dealer stated the bearing had come loose from the hub and failed, probably due to insufficient torque on the flat washer and nut.

ABS warning light remains engaged. Dealer does not know what the problem is. Initially, they said brakes system was failing, then they said brakes were ok, but warning light needs to be reset. Brought the vehicles in twice but still dealer (hopefully, with Chrysler's help) unable to resolve the problem. We are still using the vehicle but are not sure if this is a safety issue or not.
