I was driving at approximately 65mph. On the highway. All of a sudden, my instrument panel started to flicker( the lights) as well as my headlights. Then all gauges began to abruptly malfunction. Including: The speedometer's needle started spinning 360 degrees over and over. Forwards and backwards. The fuel gauge went to E. the temp. Gauge went to coolest indication. It continued extreme malfunction all the way to my destination. When I stopped, turned off the vehicle, then restarted, the gauges ( except speedometer) returned to normal function. I performed MINIdiagnostic utilizing the (reset) mileage tab. It failed to fix the problem. Have no way of knowing my speed going on 6 months now. Very nerve racking, and dangerous.

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Town and country. While the vehicle was stationary or while driving various speeds, water would enter into the brake light casings and cause the circuit system to short out. The contact stated that the brake lights were replaced twice, but the failure recurred. The dealer (jeff wyler springfield Chevrolet in springfield, Ohio) was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was 131,166.

This car has experienced many electrical problems over the years some of which I've been able to deal with. The latest ones in the past year have to do with the lights and it's getting to be a safety problem. Within a few years of purchasing this auto, the automatic door lock on the slider stopped working. About seven years ago, the automatic window on the passenger side stopped working. I have dealt with those problems. Over the years there have been many light bulbs that have 'burned' out including taillights, parking lights, low and high beam lights. I've found ten receipts for repairs on those, but the most of them have been in the past two years. I was driving on a highway in the dark yesterday and tried to switch from low beam to high beam lights and they are 'burned' out again! both lights were replaced 10/4/17. I'm afraid that I might find my lights not working at all because there's an ongoing problem that no one seems to know how to repair. This is not safe!!

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Town and country. While driving various speeds at night, the headlights intermittently illuminated. Each time the lights turned off, the switch had to be flipped to turn the headlights on again. The vehicle was taken to santa maria Chrysler (1918 S broadway, santa maria, ca 93454, phone: (805) 925-9545), but was not diagnosed or repaired because it was not covered under warranty. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle could not be repaired due to the age and warranty. The approximate failure mileage was 89,000.

My headlights are flicker or do not work sporadically. Changing the bulbs does not help. I was driving at night and they went off and I was unable to get the lights to come back on until the next day. I attempted to see if my brights worked, however they would not stay on, they would only flash. This happens when I am in motion or stationary. From what I have found in research it has to do with plastic breaking off and preventing a connection

On Jan 16, 2017 was driving about 60 mph on a highway and it was dark and raining very hard. About 15 min. Into the drive, my headlights went off!!! nothing else in the car went dark, just the headlights! so dangerous on a busy highway! I flipped the headlight switch to off and then back on, and the lights came back on and stayed for another 10 min. On the return trip home, same night and conditions, about 15 min. Into drive, they went dark again! toggling the switch did help, and they came back on. Went to my mechanic today who tested the wiring and switches and could not come up with anything. Mentioned the "computer box" for lighting is possible, but were not definitive. What can I do?

While driving headlights shut off. After turning the light switch on and off the lights will come back on although it can take several tries. I found you can put high beams on by pulling back the lever and holding it. The dashboard lights are not affected so it increases the danger because sometimes you don't know the lights are out.

My headlights turn off when driving intermittently. Turning the headlight switch on and off sometimes restores the lights, as does tapping the switch. None of these actions keep the lights on permanently. Minutes later, the lights will go off again. This is a huge safety issue driving at night. This problem was addressed by NHTSA action number:EA11010 for Town & Country models built between March 1, 2004 (mdh 0301xx) and November 30, 2005 (mdh 1130xx) but my vehicle was built in April, 2006 and it is exhibiting the same exact symptoms. I believe that the Chrysler headlight switch problem goes beyond the model build range addressed in EA11010 and there are many more vehicles affected by this than have been identified in the 2012 bulletin. I am going to have my car repaired at my own expense, and I will keep the defective part in case someone wants to investigate this problem, but I think that Chrysler's responsibility goes beyond the limited vehicle range in the previous bulletin and it is a serious safety hazard that should be investigated.

While driving at night, headlights would turn off while driving. The headlight switch went bad and my model was made after November 30, 2005 (see tsb 08-052-12 dated 8/25/12). Big safety concern. Neither Chrysler nor the dealer would honor the lifetime guarantee of fixing the headlight switch. Cost me $110 to fix.

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Town and country. While driving various speeds, the headlamps operated intermittently. In addition, the headlamp switch had to be tampered with several times until the headlamps functioned correctly. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the headlamp switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. When the vehicle was off, the instrument panel lights operated independently. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000.

Headlights turn off intermittently and unexpectedly while driving and take several attempts at toggling off/on to re-illuminate. No other interior or exterior lights are affected. Problem is occurring more frequently. Has happened numerous times forcing me to pull off the road until getting them to come back on.

The head lights will turn off unexpectedly. Flipping the on off switch helps to turn them back on, but it is getting harder and harder for them to stay on. I was driving in the early, dark morning hours down a very dark highway that is not illuminated with street lights.

Driving at nights whether on country, city, or major highways, whether driving straight or turning with the curve of the road, without warning the electrical system shuts off (headlights), leaving me in total darkness. I do have directionals. The system returns the headlights only after a series of quick on and off turning of the knob for the headlights. No low or high beams, simply no lights.

Just bought a used 2006 Chrysler Town and country minivan and have noticed a problem that has started up. The headlights don't want to come on when I turn the switch. It may take 3-5 times of turning them on, off, on before they stay on. This has happened both when starting the car in our parking lot, and when starting in a store parking lot. We've also noted that the lights turn themselves on and off by themselves sometimes with the car closed and untouched, often for some while before it happens.

The air bag warning light comes on and stays on for a few minutes, to over an hour, every few days or so, and, due to faulty air bad sensors being an NHTSA issue with 06 Chrysler this is cause for great concern for me and my family; for the 1 1/2 years I have owned this Town & Country I have continual problems with exterior and interior lights, blinking on and off, headlights and/or parking lights staying on after I've turned the lights off and then turn the car off. I continue replacing relay switches and parts. On, the parking lights are staying on after I've turned everything off, and; while driving off normally the transaxle whistles, screeches and bogs down when changing gears, even though transaxle fluid is changed regularly and filter is clean.

I have multiple issues with my 2006 Chrysler Town and country. The first is that it cuts off unexpectedly. This has happened multiple times most luckily while stopped at an intersection or stop light but it has cut off on the interstate recently. It also has a light issue, the lights will cut on and off by themselves, I have woke up during the night to find the headlights shining in the house when they do this there is no way to cut them off, they will eventually cut off by themselves. Another problem I have is the power steering whines when I drive it especially down the highway. I have checked the fluid and it is full.
