My engine light has been coming on and off and when it rains my power steering will completely go out and my belt whines. My car has even cut off after it happens. After a few moments if it did not cut off it seems to regain composure. Scary and Dangerous. Thank goodness both times I had just started my vehicle.

The way Chrysler handles this problem is to replace the rack and pinion. This is probably not the way to go as I have read, it could be something as minor as cleaning your filter and replacing the fluid. This is a common problem with this vehicle, so you can see if you have researched this issue in any way.

I have called and reported this problem with Chrysler and they say the same bull every time I call. Not enough people have reported this issue. This is totally unacceptable in my opinion. How many people need to be put in harms way or actually get hurt because of this problem before they will do anything? If they cared it should be none. But obviously they care more about money than lives. You should never have to replace this at this low mileage. I have 80000 miles on my van. Others have reported as low as 30,000. Ridiculous.

I don't even feel safe driving my vehicle because of this problem, and I definitely do not want to drive my children around in it. Now I'm stuck with a vehicle I don't need to drive or an extremely high repair bill. $1000-$1300. I think I'm gonna get the filter cleaned this weekend and fluid replaced. I will give an update to let you know if that solves the problem. Please call Chrysler to report this problem if you have it.1-800-247-9753.
