The horn started going off on September 16th on its own, lasting upwards of 2-3 minutes intermittently. I was able to get it to the dealer who has diagnosed the problem as the air bag in the steering wheel. The dealer ruled out electrical, horns, relays and fuses.
The final diagnostics indicated that the airbag in the steering wheel is expanding slowly causing the contacts for the horn to push down and activate the horn. The solution is to replace the airbag system in the steering wheel for just $1000+. To continue to drive could have resulted in deployment of the airbag without notice.
I have sent a note to Chrysler but expect very little, this issue oddly has happened on the rare occasion according to the dealer. Any help would be appreciated.
