Driving home last night in our 2013 Chrysler Town and country a transmission issue came up out of nowhere, with no warning. The van lost all speed and was unable to keep up with traffic. It was a dangerous situation that thankfully avoiding any accidents. The van only has 58,000 miles. A certified technician has looked at it and said it will need a new transmission due to internal failure of the pump as there's no pump pressure. He mentioned that he's personally seen several of these problems with premature transmission failure due to design flaw; including ones low mileage ones like ours. I've spoken with several other mechanics and all have said it's an issue seen too frequently. I called the local dealership (olathe Dodge Chrysler 15500 w 117th street - olathe, ks 66062) where the van was purchased from and spoke with the dealership director to see if they could work with us to correct a known problem. All I was given was the Chrysler 1-800 customer service number. It's an expensive design flaw by Chrysler costing several thousand of dollars to repair.

Was driving along a highway and heard a whine. It got worse as I got closer to home. Rpms suddenly increased greatly. Took it to Chrysler dealer where I purchased the vehicle new. After checking it over, it was determined that transmission needed replacing at 60500 miles. 4 months past warranty expiration. When talking with several mechanics and transmission businesses, heard this is common for this transmission (6 speed). Said the supplier for the bearings, used junk, as this has caused the problems. Chrysler must be aware of this.

While driving at about 30mph on a city street the transmission suddenly downshifted to a low gear causing the engine RPM to go up to 4000. This caused the mph to be limited to about 20. There were no 'engine trouble' or other warning lights. The gear shift still indicated 'drive', not a lower gear. Upon stopping, the gear shift was moved to all positions to no affect; when driven the car remained locked in a low gear. The lower gears, below drive (1, 2,3) were not indicated when the lever was moved to the position where they should have been indicated. The car was shut off and restarted. The problem seems to have corrected itself and has not yet reoccurred after several miles of driving, but only hours after it occurred. This sudden downshift, without warning, could be serious at high speed and crowded roads. It is scheduled to be checked by a dealer but there is conflicting views as to whether a trouble code will be available now that the problem is not present. Scary!!

On three different occasions, the engine has shut off while driving. As high as 45 mph. I have full dash functionality the only way I know the car has stalled is the speedometer is going down as I try to accelerate. I also lose all power steering and braking. Thus far, I have been lucky enough to be able to get the car into parking lots to put it in park and restart the car. Took the car in for repair after receiving error code P0018 crankshrft.camshaft position correlation bank 2 sensor. Was told the car was repaired, two weeks later, the engine shut off again with the same error code.

Vehicle was parked in driveway, was in "park" gear and had been running for approximately 20 minutes. Vehicle was turned off and keys were removed from ignition when vehicle suddenly started to roll backwards. Reportedly, vehicle was restarted and braking was attempted but vehicle would not stop. Vehicle rolled into tree/fence and damaged passenger door, that had been left open in the haste of the incident, and the rear bumper. Damage estimates at 4K.

May 27 I floored the accelerator to pass a slow truck at 57 mph let up on the pedal but the van continued to accelerate (the vehicle had previously had a transmission software update so I changed the econ O button and also kicked the foot pedal) at this time the vehicle was showing a mile or two from 80 mph. At witch time I held the brake and pulled off the road.there was a large red throttle body light on. When I turned the engine off. I decided to wait as the brakes smelled very hot. On restarting all normal warning lights plus this large red T/B light while cranking the dealer changed the foot pedal. On June 11 I followed several cars leaving a parking lot at 35 mph I let up on the gas the van continued to accelerate red light once more. I braked and pulled off the road. On restarting the engine went to 1800 RPM.. shut it off for 4 to 5 min restarted light on while cranking then went out like the first time and drove normal. The throttle body light comes on while cranking (not normal). The dealer said they can not find anything wrong and will call Chrysler they have had the van for a week now, and don't know how to fix it. The fault did remain on the computer for them.

This is a new vehicle. Right around 6100 miles, I started hearing irritating noise at speeds around 30-40 mph. The dealership is not able to resolve the issue and Chrysler seems to have no solution as well. They basically say it is drivable so I have to live with it. This noise is persistent and louder than when we first noticed it (8200 miles now). No repair, no replacement, nothing but a continual noise.
